Replacement marine-grade gas strut made by Osculati.  600mm extended length, 255mm stroke, 20kg nominal force.

These gas struts (or gas springs) are made from 316-grade stainless steel, so great for boat engine covers, hatches and storage locker lids.  These gas springs act in compression, with the compressed gas inside acting to push the rod out to its extended length.  The movement of the gas strut is damped, so it will move out progressively rather than suddenly.

Gas struts are used to assist in lifting heavy items like engine covers and hatch covers.  Choosing the most suitable gas strut involves considering its length, stroke and force, as well as the geometry of its attachment points, relative to the hinge of the cover or door.
