Self-Tapping Metric Blind Threaded Inserts – A4 Stainless – For Marine Use – With Hex-Drive

These A4 stainless steel self-tapping threaded inserts are a useful way to achieve a strong, permanent metric thread. They are ideal for use in soft materials such as soft-wood, hard-wood or softer plastics with only single sided access. For installation in fibreglass we suggest instead of these using our alternative inserts: blind version or thru hole version.

Constructed in marine-grade stainless steel ensuring they will remain corrosion resistant.

Installation Method
Warning: be careful of the sharp edges on these inserts – handle with care!

The bottom of the insert has a plain end, the pilot drill should be match this diameter (or can be larger if needed for slightly harder materials).  After drilling the pilot hole, for best results apply a chamfer to help prevent any surface damage as the insert is wound in.  The insert is then wound in using a suitable size allen key or hex bit, paying care to keep the insert going in straight and true.  In our test fitment (into seasoned oak) the insert went in fine, but needed quite a lot of force – so a good size allen wrench (double sided) would be ideal.
