Zinc sacrificial anode, Vetus 80 type.  These hull anodes are for bolting to the hull.  Zinc anodes are suited to salt-water use, to prevent the galvanic corrosion of the metallic parts of your boat.  Anodes should be inspected yearly and replaced at the point that 50% or less remains.
