Neoprene swells and deteriorates rapidly on contact with these fluids; nitrile is specifically formulated to resist them. For clean raw or fresh water applications on the same pump body, use SM-2198 (Osculati 16.194.38, CEF 138) in neoprene — both share the same bore and external dimensions but are not material-substitutes for each other.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe Jabsco Water Puppy is a widely-fitted small below-decks pump used across a large proportion of sailing yachts and motor vessels for draining shower sumps, small bilge compartments and general fluid transfer duties. Where the Water Puppy is working in a bilge or sump that receives any drainage from mechanical spaces, the nitrile impeller is the correct fit.
